Social Summer
So you are a young professional getting used to spending summer and advance your career in an office- but also want to spend your summer outside, soaking up the sun, and getting to know new people?
Well let me introduce to you a concept, and quite frankly how I am trying to spend my time over the next few months… Social Summer.
The common coffee chat happens virtually and with no actual coffee involved… and for those of you who know me, you know my passion to un-professionalize the networking space. Networking is seen as something that only happens at invite only events, or a very strategically planned call… but is that genuine and authentic? Personally, the more casual the conversation, the more genuine and authentic I find the person I am speaking to is in return. They tend to share more if there is not a set interview structure, and more of a casual and friendly conversation. As part of my goal to make networking a casual everyday thing, this summer I want to shake things up a bit.
I want to help other young professionals make more memorable long lasting impressions and have more in depth conversations, but to do so while enjoying the short few months of nice weather we have (for those of you in Canada lol). I am challenging myself and opening this up to you as well…
Meet at a park, meet at a patio, have you ever had a coffee chat walk?? These moments of connection that we have been sharing on our screens for years can become memories of connection.
You can live out your summertime fun in the sun and build your professional network at the same time! BRING COFFEE CHATTING OUTSIDE!
