Hello!

As you may have guessed, my name is Brooke Schidowka. I am an eager and passionate young professional taking on the second chapter of my blogging journey. After some soul searching, starting at a new job, oh and moving back to Ontario after almost 5 years, I feel ready to dive back in to finding myself within all spheres of life, my career, my social life, my health and extracurriculars. This chapter of Brooke Does Her Best will highlight the top 3 things I believe are essential to lead a happy and successful life, in and outside of the office: Passion,  Fulfillment, and Connection.

The backstory of how I got here and why you are reading this...

​

Born and raised in London, Ontario I had been seeking change when it came time to apply to University. I moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia sight-unseen to attend Dalhousie University where I completed my bachelor's with honours in Law, Justice, and Society. With my sights set on being a lawyer (but not quite sure why), I was already aware my next step would have to be law school, and then I'd article, and then I'd work and work and- wait... was this what I really wanted?

I had spent four years dedicated to learning the legal system, proper legal research and writing and defending an 8 month thesis on a social justice matter I cared so deeply about, but why was I not convinced? In December of 2022 I decided to do pivot. I made the decision to follow a path into a career in business.

​

Throughout 150+ coffee chats with business professionals from a wide variety of sectors, days of attending conferences to learn as much as possible, and applying to too many jobs to count... I realized I had found my direction. In the midst of the dozens of no's I heard and hours on hours of networking- I was still craving more. I loved that with every no I could keep improving myself, and with every chat I took one new thing away.

 

I began feeling passion. A feeling that has fuelled my every decision since I made this pivot- ensuring everything I do, everyone I reach out to, and every chance I take going forward is based in my passion. Including this blog!

Which brings me back to why I am here- to continue down this difficult, yet rewarding path I chose to take all because of my passion.
