A check in with YOU
Recently I have found myself feeling stagnant. My past goals have turned into daily checklist items that are more routine to me than anything ( i.e., practice Spanish, gym/run, journal, etc).
My boyfriend Ben is a very ambitious and hardworking individual. He inspires me with his determination to go after his goals and he once said something that really speaks to the situation I am in right now...I am hoping it resonates with some of you as well!
Ben brought up the idea of goal setting needing an element of failure. His point was- is it really a goal if you know with full certainty you can achieve it? Would that not be a checklist item? Ben told me that a goal needs to have a solid chance of not occurring- because it keeps you grinding to work towards something that you once didn’t know you could achieve.
I had to check in with myself this week and reassess my goals. They are all 100000% achievable… so my personal task this week has been to re-write my goals for this year. They look a lot more intimidating I must say- but achieving something that once looked somewhat impossible is going to feel incredible.
Take this week's post as a check in with YOU to take a look at your current goals, and see if they are checklist items. If so- take some time for yourself to re-write your goals and bring in the percentage of failure!
Also thanks to Ben for always pushing me to be my best self- and I hope his advice does the same for you!
Those small daily “checklist “ goals are steps towards reaching your larger goals. You can’t just become fluent in Spanish but need your daily practice to reach your larger and much more difficult to obtain goal. I say, don’t underestimate your daily checklist as it is getting you closer to your bigger goal.
